Per completezza incollo qui l'annuncio ufficiale:
Finally, FPC 2.6.4 has landed. FPC 2.6.4 is an update to 2.6.2 and 2.6.0 that
contains most library progress over the 2.6.2. It will probably conclude the
2.6.x branch.
Building is still in progress and some formats (deb) and targets might
not be available yet.
Changes that may break backwards compatibility are documented at:

Due to issues with mirroring, please use sourceforge as much as possible,

Si sa qualcosa della futura versione 2.8?

Il ramo 2.8.0 ancora non è stato creato nel repository dei sorgenti. Ad un certo punto si è parlato in lista anche di un possibile passaggio alla versione 3.0.0, però non mi pare si sia deciso niente in proposito.
Se non ho capito male, tutto dipenderà dalle nuove features in lavorazione. Se non si fa in tempo a finirle entro qualche mese, allora ci possiamo aspettare un'altra fix release (2.6.6?); se si completa almeno una nuova feature, allora si andrà sulla 2.8.0; se poi si riescono a completare più features, allora si passerà direttamente alla 3.0.0. Però posso dirti che da questo punto di vista il team mi sembra molto conservativo...

Io sto aspettando in grazia l'arrivo dell'unicode in FPC. :S

Dovrebbe essere a buon punto. Probabilmente ci sarà nella prossima release, o 2.8 o 3.0
